Notifications

The bell icon in the top bar is your in-app notification centre — alerts for you, delivered live while you work.

What you are notified about

Invoice status changes. An invoice reaching a status you care about creates an alert like "Invoice INV-0042 marked Paid", linking straight to it. This fires whether the change came from you, a teammate, a recorded payment or a completed Stripe checkout — which means "you got paid" reaches you the moment it happens rather than the next time you look.

Warranty alerts. "Warranty expiring: 2021 Ford Transit" when an asset's warranty enters your warning window. See warranty and service alerts.

Using the bell

  • The badge counts unread alerts; the dropdown shows your recent history
  • Click an alert to jump to the invoice or asset — it is marked read on the way
  • Mark all read clears the slate
  • Notifications arrive live, with no refresh needed

Choosing what you hear about

Settings → Notifications, under In-app notifications:

  • Invoice statuses — tick any of Draft, Sent, Paid, Partial, Overdue, Cancelled. The defaults are Paid and Overdue: the money-in and money-late moments.
  • Warranty window — how far ahead to be warned, from 7 to 90 days.

The defaults are chosen to be the two you would want if you only ever wanted two. Solo operators often leave it there. Teams frequently add Sent, so everyone can see what has gone out without asking. Ticking all six is usually a mistake — a notification centre that fires on every draft becomes one you stop reading, and then the Paid and Overdue alerts get missed along with everything else.

The warranty window is worth matching to how long it actually takes you to act. Seven days is not much use if the repairer needs a fortnight's notice.

One setting is shared, one is yours

Worth knowing before you change anything: the in-app settings on this page are business-wide. Change them and they change for your whole team. The email settings below them are personal to you.

So if a colleague asks why they are suddenly getting invoice alerts they did not choose, this is why — someone changed the shared setting.

Notifications versus the other kinds of email

These are three different systems, configured separately:

Audience Where it arrives
Notifications (this page) You and your team The bell, in-app
Reminder emails Your clients Their inbox
Emails from Velosiq You Your inbox

Turning something off here does not turn off the equivalent email, and turning off an email does not silence the bell. If you are trying to stop being told something, check which of the three is actually telling you.
