What Velosiq is not
The two below are the ones handymen most often assume, so they are worth stating before you spend an evening setting things up.
- — It does not mark up materials. An expense is recorded at what it cost you — if you charge more than you paid, you price that on the invoice line yourself.
- — It does not do recurring or automatic invoicing, and holds no card on file. A monthly customer is a duplicated invoice, not a subscription.

Can I add a markup to materials I buy for a job?
No, and this is worth knowing before you sign up. Velosiq records an expense at what it cost you. There is no markup field and no automatic rebilling at a percentage. If you want to charge more than you paid, you price the line on the invoice at whatever you are charging — the expense stays at cost on your side, which keeps your profit figures honest, but the arithmetic is yours to do.
How fast can I actually get an invoice out?
From a phone, on site: open the client, new invoice, pick the lines from your saved price list, send. The line items you use most are already priced, so the typing is a quantity and a note. The client gets an email with a payment link, and if you have connected Stripe they can pay it before you have loaded the van.
Do I have to write a formal quote for a small job?
No. For most callouts an invoice is the whole paperwork. Proposals are there for the bigger jobs where you want the customer to agree the scope and price in writing first — they type their name to accept, and Velosiq records the name, IP address and timestamp against it.
What about the extra work they ask for once you are there?
On the Business and Team plans a job can be run as a project with change orders, so "while you are here, could you also…" gets recorded with a price and an approval rather than absorbed. The approval is your own record — it is not a customer signature. If you need something countersigned, send it as a proposal instead.
Can it bill a regular customer automatically each month?
No. There is no recurring invoicing, no autopay and no card kept on file. What Velosiq does instead is make a repeat invoice quick to duplicate and then chase it for you if it goes unpaid.
Is there a limit on how many invoices I can send?
No. Invoices and clients are unlimited on every plan, so a month of forty small jobs costs the same as a month of four. Plans are priced on how many people need a login, not on how much you use it.
